Psychology Transfer Credit Request
Students seeking to transfer psychology courses from another institution to Reed should complete the form linked below. The more complete the information you provide, the more quickly your request can be processed. You will be notified as soon as possible regarding the status of your request. Thank you for your patience.
Department of Psychology transfer credit policies:
- Requests to replace PSY 101 or methods labs (PSY 200-210) with introductory courses taught elsewhere are rarely approved. Our introductory series is unique and includes laboratory experiences not common in introductory psychology courses at other institutions.
- Requests to replace a psychology core course with a course from another institution are only approved when the content and format of the two courses are highly similar. Most of our core courses include a laboratory component with data collection and analysis that is not common at other institutions.
- To seek credit for (a) psychology courses intended to fulfill Group 3/3+ requirements or (b) courses in other disciplines intended to fulfill the psychology allied field requirement, complete the Registrar's request for transfer credit form, not the form linked above. Such requests are reviewed by the Registar's Office, not the Department of Psychology.
- Psychology requirements cannot be fulfilled with Advanced Placement (AP) or International Baccalaureate (IB) credit.
- Asychronous online courses are not afforded credit. For synchronous online courses, requests are considered on a case-by-case basis.
